About

TheATRE Company

Hercules Productions has a vision to create new, fresh and inventive theatre work and creative community projects.

Offering up hard-hitting, original and honest theatre that is produced to a high standard, we aim to open the eyes of our audiences, incorporating both multi-media and vibrant music, creating a new era in theatre. We combine different art forms in adventurous ways to challenge and excite.

The key to our projects is bringing together inexperienced and experienced artists to work collaboratively in a professional arts environment. All of these artists are from diverse communities in Manchester, with the aim to create real dialogue between people about the issues they face in the inner city. We seek to raise the profile of cultural diversity in the north west through raw, new pieces that challenge social boundaries, take risks and break new ground in performance.

We run drama and music based projects involving underprivileged participants who do not have many opportunities to work within the arts. We work with young people to devise and create new theatre, and run workshops around issues that are affecting their lives and surroundings.

MarcuS HERCULES

Marcus Hercules is an accomplished Actor, Director, Writer and Workshop Leader, with many years of professional experience within film, theatre and television.

Marcus has created, written and performed his one man shows Different Perspectives, Rasta Liv and Prison Game. He has also appeared in TV shows such as: Holby City, Shameless, Coronation Street, New Street Law, Brookside, Doctors, Mobile, Casualty and Northern Lights.

Prison Game is a contemporary take on the ‘Kitchen Sink Drama’, with themes stemming from socialist realism of the Black community in inner city UK. Sell out shows have been performed at HOME Manchester, Royal Exchange Studio and Talawa Theatre. In keeping with the message of the piece, Marcus has taken Prison Game to secure units, prisons, youth groups and schools, as well as mainstream theatres and festivals, all over the UK.

Hercules Productions workshops and acting classes are lead by Marcus and have been run successfully for over 15 years; with participants going on to work with the Royal Exchange Theatre, The Lion King, Unity Radio, BBC and ITV.

Marcus is also an established Reggae artist who performs with live band accompaniment. He aims to inspire through heartfelt, real music with a message of positivity and inclusion.

Do the things you love, love the things you do.

Sustainability

Hercules Productions strive to be a socially and environmentally responsible organisation.

We predominantly work with the communities situated locally to our premises and encourage participants to attend on foot or organise lift shares. Mini-bus transportion is organised for participants and crew to attend project events and performances further afield.

Content is encouraged to be uploaded digitally, reducing our use of paper throughout projects. There are also recycling facilities available in our project and rehearsal spaces.

We commit to ethical procurement, prioritising the support of local businesses, suppliers and practitioners.
